food insecurity program

Food insecurity has largely replaced hunger as the primary focus of organizing, action, and policy surrounding food access. Food insecurity refers to a lack of access to enough good, healthy, and culturally appropriate food.

Everyone needs to eat a certain amount of food to stay healthy, active, and happy. Everybody deserves to eat food that they think is good. Food they enjoy. Healthy food is nutritious and sustaining. It’s full of vitamins, minerals, fiber, energy, and all the other things that our bodies need to be happy.

It’s also important to have access to culturally appropriate foods. This is what the #MLKcommUNITY Food Distribution is all about.

The #MLKcommUNITY Initiative Food Distribution Tackles Food Insecurity

In the Southeast area, where the MLK Community Initiate has partnered with The Frink Firm to Rebound the area. We are working collaboratively with Caught Up the Game and various community partners. Hunger is an issue that people, including families and children, face every day. Our most vulnerable populations — children who are out of school and rely on school lunch programs, low-income families, the elderly, and individuals facing job disruptions — face great barriers to receiving safe and consistent access to meals.  We want to be there to address those needs.
